Baby Immunisations

Baby immunisation clinics are run at the surgery on: Tues. 9.00am - 12.30pm by appointment only.

Please check your RED BOOK for entry of each vaccination record.

Breast Screening

Have you missed your breast screening appointment? You can re-book an appointment by phoning
020 3299 1964 or you can arrange an appointment online visit the website www.selbreastscreening.org.uk

The NHS National Breast Screening Programme provides free screening for breast cancer for all women over the age of 50. If you're between 50 and 70 you should be routinely invited for a mammogram. Women over 70 are encouraged to make their own appointments.

Cervical Smears

It is recommended that cervical smear tests are carried out as follows:
  • Between the ages of 25 and 49 years – every three years
  • Between the ages of 50 and 64 years – every five years

When booking an appointment, please tell the receptionist you are attending for a smear test.

Child Health

Health Visitors provide a weekly Well Baby Clinic for children up to the age of 5 years.
  • Tuesdays 11am – 12noon at Slade Green Medical Centre
  • Wednesdays 1.30 – 3.30pm at Colyers Lane Medical Centre

During clinic time the GP offers developmental assessments for babies at 8weeks. The GP is also available to review any developmental problems as appropriate.

Health Visitors are registered nurses with specialised training in public health issues, family and child health. Currently Health Visitors carry out development assessments at 8 months and whenever necessary, and are able to offer advice for support to parents.

Registered Nurses offer appointments for immunisation during clinic times. Parents must make appointments at the surgery for all immunisations.

Chlamydia Testing

Chlamydia is the most commonly diagnosed Sexually Transmitted infection in men and women. Most of the people who have this infection will have no symptoms. If you or your sexual partner remain untreated it can cause infertility.

If you are sexually active and under 25 you should be tested for Chlamydia annually by a very simple urine or self swab test.

Choose and Book

Choose and Book is a service that allows you to choose your hospital or clinic and book an appointment with a specialist. When you and your GP agree that you need to see a specialist you will be able to choose from a list of hospitals or clinics. You will also be able to choose the date and time of your appointment.

Contraceptive Services & Family Planning Clinic

The practice offers a full range of family planning care and advice including the coil (IUCD) and the morning after pill (within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse). We encourage our patients to come to the surgery for confidential contraceptive advice. The Doctor also takes an active part in discussing and dealing with menopausal and pre-menstrual problems.

Dr S Nehru and Dr V Bhalani are qualified doctors for Implanon insertion. Dr V Bhalani is a our lady doctor qualified for coil insertion. For General Contraceptive advice book an appointment with our practice nurse or health care assistant.

Flu & Pneumococcal Vaccination

These vaccinations are recommended for patients over the age of 65, patients suffering from with heart, lung, liver or kidney diseases, diabetes or residents of nursing homes. Please contact the surgery at the beginning of October for further details. If you are housebound, a home visit can be arranged.

Health Promotion

Prevention is better than cure. We take every opportunity to check on our patients’ health and offer advice on healthy living. We also offer a full range of special health promotion clinics by appointment with our practice nurses.

Minor Surgery

All doctors in the surgery perform minor surgical procedures like joint injection. Dr S Nehru is qualified a Surgical Specialist and is a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). Our Practice provides Minor Surgery facilities to many other GP surgeries in North Bexley.

Dr S Nehru is also accredited as GPwSI in minor surgery and Vasectomy. He performs Vasectomy for patients from other practices under Bexley PCT.

Well Person Clinic

These are by appointment only with Practice Nurse. Our Practice Nurse carry out check for blood pressure, tests for early detection of heart, chest conditions, kidney disease and diabetes, also ECG if required. Advice on diet, smoking, alcohol etc. is provided.

The Practice Nurse will carry out cervical smears and breast awareness checks every 3 years for all women patients.

If you are in good health and have not seen a Doctor in the last 3 years, you are advised to have a check-up by your GP or Practice Nurses.
Patients over 75 years of age

If you are over 75 you are offered the opportunity to book an appointment with your Doctor or Nurse for an annual check-up. Please book an appointment via the reception staff, stating that it is for an ‘over 75 check-up’. If you are housebound the District Nurse will do the check-up at home.

Young People Clinic

We have tried to make our practice as Teenage Friendly Practice. Confidential consultations with a male doctor, female doctor or our Practice Nurse is available on request. Full Check ups and consultations regarding contraception and sexually transmitted infection are available.
